Don’t just take our word for it…

Francesca Siviter,
Conservation Officer SDDC

The work is exemplary – I have taken plenty of photos, as I would like to use these as examples of repointing and rebuild work of the conservation standard we expect.

The mortar mix and finish to joints is how I describe the quality I wish to see (but don’t always get from other contractors). I also noticed the addition of a replacement coping stone as one had disintegrated – thank you for having this matched so well.

Kate and I are delighted with what you and your team have achieved and thank you all for that. It was really good to work with all of you and it’s impossible to pick out any individual specifically as everyone was so nice, professional and friendly.

Renovation and extension of Cofton House, Kings Newton

Mark Knight
TTTV Cultural Heritage Officer

I’d like to offer my sincere thanks for drawing this project to a successful conclusion. I think that between us all we have done something valuable and worthwhile with our local heritage, in trying to preserve and protect Anchor Caves for the future.

Thank you for your time and patience. Alan, please pass on my thanks to your team, they were professional and good-humoured throughout, despite the remote location, difficulty in equipment access, wet feet, nettles and mud.

“I just wanted to pass on our sincere thanks for the superb job the boys have done with our roof. We could not be happier, although it makes the rest of the house look awful! Simon took great care over everything and explained what he Chris and Reece did on the project step by step. The confidence he gave us on the job cannot be understated. We are grateful to Bill for the thorough tidy up – not the most glamorous of jobs – but it just goes to prove how good a job you have all done and how professional your company is. Thank you to everyone at ASBC.

Alan’s expertise and insight was instrumental in helping us get the project off the ground. As part of the service Alan provided us with a clear schedule of work, timelines, transparent costings, and a tailored health and safety manual.

Alan and his team completed intricate stonework repairs to multiple windows, stone refacing, patching, repointing, ceiling repairs, internal lime plasterwork, the installation of new heating and lighting systems and subsequent redecoration of the interior of the building.

The ASBC team were always friendly, courteous and professional. They protected all historical artefacts prior to commencing work, and were clean, tidy and respectful to our neighbours and surroundings.

All work was completed to an exceptional standard throughout. The craftsmanship of the stonemasons in particular was outstanding and we were honoured to host a heritage skills day onsite to showcase their skills to our local community.

During the project, Alan was a pleasure to deal with. He was reliable, always approachable and on hand to answer any queries. He provided us with regulate and timely updates and photographic documentation of progress. These well attended details made the project extremely easy to manage from start to finish.

Overall, I would not hesitate to endorse ASBC to anyone looking to approach a heritage or conservation project. Indeed, we have already rebooked their services for the next phase of work later this year!

Lady Annie Chichester, client

ASBC did an excellent job rebuilding my extended farmhouse. Their work was of the highest quality and they were a joy to work with throughout the project.

Lord and Lady Kerr, client

The result is magnificent and the attention to detail is outstanding. English Heritage are so pleased with the works undertaken by Alan Staley and his team of highly skilled craftsmen, they have been awarded the English Heritage Angel Award for the project.

Canon Mark Powell, client

The most delight came from the additional facilities that were not part of the original plan, but came about by Alan’s vision and imagination… The Melbourne Parish Church Council commented that we trusted Alan and his judgement, and felt that we were in safe hands.

Chris Bates, Build It Magazine

Adding on to the corner of a building is a big technical challenge but especially when you’re going to have to drag your steels on by hand. What they’ve created here is a really impressive, cantonoovered corner of the building with frameless glazing which just looks spectacular’.

Melbourne Civic Society

Alan is well recognised throughout the community with an exceptional reputation and over many years he has considerably helped to preserve and enhance the local environment.

Griselda Kerr, client

A potentially trying time was made tolerable by the calm and efficient expertise of Alan and his extremely able team.

Rev Stephen Short,

I am thrilled with the work that has been carried out at my Rectory. The workforce have been highly professional and courteous at all times. Their attention to detail has also been very much appreciated especially in the preparation and tidying.

Canon Mark Powell,
College of St Georges Chapel, Windsor Castle

Everyone who met and worked with you commented on your friendliness and professionalism… They were also impressed with the way you proposed solutions to the problems that arose and dealt with them so quickly and efficiently. We look forward to welcoming you back to Windsor Castle.

Joanne Williams,
Assistant Building Surveyor,
National Trust

ASBC Heritage and Conservation Specialists have worked on numerous projects with me at Calke Abbey and its Let Estate. The work is always undertaken in a professional manner and within the timeframe outlined. Those employed by the contractor are polite, skilful and understanding of the environment they work in and happy to adapt their approach to suit their surroundings. This is key when working at National Trust properties open to the public.
